Top Tips for Affordable Cannabis in Maryland

Top Tips for Affordable Cannabis in Maryland

Enjoying affordable cannabis in Maryland doesn’t have to be difficult. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or a new enthusiast, there are plenty of ways to get the most out of your products without overspending. We have some of the best ways to find affordable cannabis in Maryland.

  1. Buy in Bulk (When It Makes Sense)

Purchasing larger quantities, like an ounce instead of smaller increments, often comes with discounts, especially when we have our Big Bag specials (7g and up). For example, an pre-packed eighth may cost $40-$50, but a pre-packed quarter is generally priced around $65. Our house packed flower is usually even less! Purchasing by the gram or individual pre-roll can add up quickly, especially for those with higher tolerances who are purchasing more frequently.

  1. Look for Deals and Discounts

Keep an eye out for our daily deals, first-time customer specials, Flash sales, and loyalty programs. We also offer discounts for those with birthdays, veterans, and most days have something special for our medical patients. Signing up for our newsletter or our loyalty program keeps you in-the-know on our latest deals.

  1. Choose Value Strains

Premium strains might have higher potency or exotic genetics, but mid-tier options often provide comparable effects at a fraction of the cost. Don’t overlook smaller nugs or “shake” packages—they’re perfect for edibles, rolling joints, or vaporizing.

  1. Invest in Accessories That Save Product

Using high-quality accessories like vaporizers or grinders can extend the life of your cannabis. Vaporizers extract cannabinoids more efficiently, and you’re actually able to utilize the “used” cannabis when cooking edibles. Vaped cannabis is decarboxylated from the vaporizer already, so it’s ready to throw in some butter or baked goods without any complex cooking. Grinders like Stache’s Grynder have compartments for keef, allowing each nug you grind to produce finely-milled, extra potent keef. Adding bits of this to your flower means you get to feel the effects while using less product overall.

  1. Consider Edibles

Instead of purchasing 10 packs of 10 mg edibles every so often and letting the cost add up, look for edibles in higher dosages and split them up into small pieces. Medical patients can buy 40 mg edibles, and even for our low-dose crowds, 40 mg edibles split into 4 pieces means a 40 mg 10 pack becomes a 10 mg 40 pack. Not a medical patient? Consider purchasing “ratio edibles” with additional cannabinoids that can make your high much more fulfilling.

  1. Experiment with Microdosing

Lower doses can help you find the sweet spot where you experience desired effects without overconsumption. Microdosing stretches your stash and may improve your overall experience.

  1. Explore Different Formats

Concentrates like live resin, rosins, hash, budders, badders, and shatters may have a higher upfront cost but are extremely potent, meaning you’ll use less product per session. Similarly, tinctures and capsules can offer precise dosing and last longer in your system, meaning you don’t have to dose as often.

  1. Use Fresh Products Wisely

Proper storage is crucial to prevent cannabis from drying out or losing potency. Invest in airtight, UV-protected containers, and store them in a cool, dark place. Keeping your stash fresh ensures you get full value from every purchase.

  1. Consider DIY Options

Roll your own joints or pack your own pre-rolls instead of buying pre-made options. You can add concentrates to your pre-rolls and make them go even further.

  1. Don’t Overlook Shake or Trim

Pre-ground cannabis, often referred to as “shake” or “trim,” consists of smaller buds and pieces that break off during handling and packaging. While shake is generally less potent than whole flower, it’s a budget-friendly option that shines for specific uses:

  • Perfect for Edibles: Shake is ideal for making cannabutter, oils, or infusions since potency isn’t a primary concern in these preparations.
  • Great for Infused Joints: For those who enjoy infused joints, shake can be paired with concentrates to create hand-rolled options that are both flavorful and potent without wasting premium whole flower.
  • Convenient for Casual Use: Shake is pre-ground and ready to use, saving time for rolling or packing bowls, especially for those on a budget.

We offer shake or trim at a fraction of the price of whole flower, making it a versatile and economical choice for creative cannabis enthusiasts.

Looking for affordable cannabis in Maryland doesn’t mean compromising on quality or experience. By planning smart purchases, taking advantage of discounts, and exploring creative ways to use your products, you can enjoy cannabis without overspending. Start implementing these tips today and discover how far your cannabis dollars can go!

First Time Cannabis Consumption: A Guide to Every Method

First Time Cannabis Consumption: A Guide to Every Method

Trying cannabis for the first time can feel a bit like stepping into the unknown, but with the right preparation, it can be an enjoyable and relieving experience. With so many consumption methods available- smoking, vaping, edibles, and all of the nuances that come with them- it’s important to understand how each one works and how it might affect you as a first-time user.

  1. Start Low and Go Slow (With Any Method)

This golden rule applies to all cannabis consumption methods. Whether you’re smoking, vaping, eating an edible, or trying tinctures, it’s always best to start with a low dose and work your way up to a higher dose. It can be easy to overconsume if you’re not careful.

– For smoking or vaping: Take one small puff and wait for at least 15 minutes before deciding if you want more. Effects usually come on within a few minutes, so you’ll know fairly quickly if you’ve had enough.

– For edibles and capsules: Start with a low dose. 5 mg of THC or less is a good starting point. Be patient, and do not consume more than your initial dose- edibles take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in depending on your stomach’s digestion. Opting for an edible option that includes CBD can also help alleviate the high that THC can cause.

Tip: Take it SLOWLY! It’s easier to add more later than it is to “undo” a high.

  1. Stay Hydrated and Listen to Your Gut- Literally!

Cannabis can sometimes cause dry mouth (commonly known as “cottonmouth”). This is totally normal, but having a bottle of water nearby can make a big difference in your comfort level. No matter how you choose to consume, sipping water throughout your experience will help keep you feeling refreshed.

For those who experience any fluctuations in their blood sugar throughout the day, keep some calorie-dense snacks on hand! The “high” can sometimes cause your blood sugar to drop if it is too intense.

Tip: While water and electrolyte drinks are great options, avoid alcohol or other substances when trying cannabis for the first time. Mixing can intensify the effects in unexpected ways, including dizziness or nausea.

  1. Have a Plan in Case You Get Too High

Getting “too high” can happen, especially if you’re new to cannabis. But don’t worry—there are a few tricks you can use to come back down if you start feeling uncomfortable:

-Stay calm: Remind yourself that it’s temporary, and the feeling will pass. Take deep breaths and try to picture yourself yawning- as strange as it sounds, it can regulate your breathing again if you start to panic, and help transition the “high” to more of a sleepy feeling. If you have a blanket on hand, wrap yourself up in it!

-Try CBD: CBD with no THC can help counteract the psychoactive effects of THC. If you have some on hand, taking a bit of CBD might help calm you down. Check out our extensive collection of Hemp/CBD as well!

– Distract yourself: Engage in a calming activity, like listening to music, watching something funny, or even taking a shower.

– Stay hydrated and snack: Drinking water or eating something can sometimes help alleviate the intensity of the high.

-Try Lemons or Peppercorns: Terpenes are commonly found in cannabis and help direct the “high” to have more of the effect you desire. For example, Limonene is found in certain sativa strains, and naturally occurring in lemons. Caryophyllene helps alleviate the “too-high” feeling, and is found in black peppercorns. Trying a slice of lemon can snap you out of the high feeling, and peppercorn can mellow the high.

Tip: Have some CBD on hand before you begin, just in case you want to balance out your experience.

  1. Know Your Cannabis Products

The type of cannabis you choose can also influence your experience. Different strains, potencies terpenes, and ratios of THC to CBD can impact how cannabis makes you feel. If you’re using cannabis for the first time, it’s a good idea to start with a product that has a balanced THC-to-CBD ratio (such as 1:1) for a milder, more balanced effect.

– THC-dominant strains/products will have more intense psychoactive effects (the “high”).

– CBD-dominant strains/products provide more therapeutic relief without as much of a high.

– Balanced or “ratio” products (with equal THC and CBD) can offer the best of both worlds- relaxation and euphoria, without going overboard.

Tip: Check with your wellness advisor for product recommendations tailored to first-timers, especially if you’re looking for a specific effect like relaxation or creativity.

5. Choose the Right Setting

Your environment plays a huge role in your first cannabis experience. Find a comfortable, familiar space where you feel relaxed and safe. Whether it’s your living room, a cozy outdoor spot, or hanging out with a trusted friend, being in a chill atmosphere can help ensure that you have a positive experience.

– Solo or social?: Some people prefer to try cannabis alone to get a better sense of how it affects them, while others feel more at ease in a social setting with friends. Either way, having someone around who is experienced with cannabis can help if you have any questions or concerns.

Tip: Have some snacks, water, blankets, and entertainment like music or a movie on hand to keep the vibe mellow.

Trying cannabis for the first time is an exciting experience, and with a little preparation, you can make sure it’s a positive one. By starting slow, choosing the right setting, and understanding how different methods work, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying cannabis in a way that feels right for you. Whether you go for a classic joint, try a tasty edible, or experiment with tinctures, remember to stay hydrated, be patient, and most of all—have fun doing what feels right to YOU! The world of cannabis is full of possibilities, so take your time exploring and find the method that suits you best.

Baltimore Community Hunger Project Community Drive

Baltimore Community Hunger Project Community Drive

By Dan Taylor, Marketing Coordinator

ELLICOTT CITY, MD- Poverty in and around Maryland is not unique compared to the rest of the country. The war on childhood poverty is ever present. That’s why Trilogy Wellness is asking its patients and guests to help donate to a worthy cause.

The Baltimore Hunger Project is teaming up with Trilogy Wellness the entire month of January through mid-February.

“To be able to pair up with a non-profit that is fighting childhood poverty daily, is an extremely rewarding program to be associated with,” said Trilogy Wellness Marketing and Sales Director, Jaime Elwood. “We have a very compassionate and warm base of patients and guests. They are always on board to help in any way they can.”

Trilogy partnered with the organization back in late November. This charity drive for the Baltimore community has allowed Trilogy to bring in over $2,000 for the Baltimore Hunger Project. The organization’s goal is to eliminate weekend childhood hunger by what’s known as the “hunger gap.” That is when children go hungry from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.

According to the Maryland Hunger Solutions, nearly 94% of Baltimore City students (71,581 children) and 66% of Baltimore County students (73,677 children) are considered food insecure and participate in the free and reduced-price meals program (FARMS). Leaders with the Baltimore Hunger Project, says this equates to more than 145,000 students in our region who may struggle with hunger when school is not in session.

Providing food not only provides nourishment that can help improve a child’s health, but also their chances of learning better when they’re not hungry.

If you donate at least $5.00, Trilogy Wellness will provide you will a $5.00 bounce back card to use during your next visit.

Please consider donating to this worthy cause the next time you stop into Trilogy Wellness. Just ask for the donation box. In the meantime, check out our other seasonal community drives and learn how you can support the Ellicott City and Baltimore communities!
